Starting Out Successfully (SOS) is an onsite training provided to an
individual or facility staff on an appointment basis.

Family and Group Home Providers

Family and Group Homes Providers work through six modules, one at
a time, in the areas of Child Development, Health & Safety, Parent-Provider
Relationships, Professionalism, Curriculum & Environment, Guidance-Discipline,
and Business Management. The trainer comes to the Provider’s
home for six visits to discuss and go over the modules. Each module
is worth two hours of training, for a total of 12 hours. All six modules
must be completed before credit for training hours can be given. The
training hours count toward the eight hours of annual training mandated
by the State of Montana. |

Center-based Providers

Center-based Providers have eight hours of instructional time with
a trainer in a group setting at the provider’s center. A minimum
of 3 providers is required. The training will cover Child Development,
Health and Safety, Parent/Provider Relationships, Professionalism,
Curriculum, Environment, Guidence and Discipline. The training can
be customized as to the length of each session, resulting in a total
of eight hours. A module is provided to each provider to read and
keep as a reference. This training counts toward the eight hours of
annual training mandated by the state of Montana. |
