Merit Pay Merit Pay is available to practitioners working at least 15 hours a week in a licensed/registered child care facility. Applicants must be active on the Practitioner Registry by the time they receive their monetary award for the completion of their approved training plan. Three tracks are available: Merit Pay I - Participants completing and verifying 23 or 50 hours of approved early childhood training will receive a $250 or $500 award. Higher Ed Merit Pay - Students who are enrolled in at least six semester credits per semester of early childhood coursework may apply annually. Awards of $750 per semester are granted upon successful completion of the previous semester. College coursework must lead to an undergraduate or graduate degree in Early Childhood/Child Development, or to a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Infant Toddler Merit Pay - Applicants may receive a $400 award upon successful completion of the 60-hour Montana Infant/Toddler training course. Merit Pay applications are available annually.
