National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC):
The NAEYC accreditation process is designed for many types of early-childhood
programs childcare centers, preschools, school-age programs and
kindergartens. The National Academy of Early Childhood Programs in Washington,
D.C. administers the program. Montana scholarships are available for the
full validation fee, which is based on the number of children served in
the program and ranges from $300 to $700. The application fee (also based
on numbers of children) must be paid by the program.
National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC): The
NAFCC accreditation process is designed for family and group home childcare
programs. The accreditation involves a self-study, parent surveys and
an observer visit. The fee is $495 with membership in NAFCC. Full scholarships
are available.
How Do I Get Started?
- Call NAFCC at 1-800-359-3817 or NAEYC
at 1-800-424-2460 to request an accreditation and membership
application. Join the organization in order to receive its national
newsletter and the reduced rate for accreditation.
- Keep track of all your training in early care and education and ask
for a certificate or approved-training label (when you attend training
in Montana) so you can document hours of training over the past 2 years.
- Contact the Early Childhood
Project (1-800-213-6310) to request an NAFCC or NAEYC
Accreditation Scholarship to help you pay the cost of accreditation.
